why do bees honey

w.a.l.t know how bees honey

How do bees make honey?
Bees are quite popular in N.Z. did you know that bees have to visit 2 million flowers to make one pound of honey. Impresive right .

In spring time the bees go to two million flowers to collect the nectar using their tongue. They suck the nectar out of the flower. then they store it in their honey stomach and take it to the hive when their stomach is full.

The bees return to their hive. the enzymes and the protein in the bees body mixes with the nectar to turn the nectar into honey. It is passed through different bees mouths to make it all sticky. then they store it into the honey come then they put wax on it to make it clean.

In conclusion, the bees do all the hard work before beekeepers come and collect the honey later on.

how do you think bees make ?
but do it on your self

Reading

W.A.L.T ask and answer questions.

This week I have been reading a story called Te Tiriti O Waitangi. This book is about Waitangi Day. It talks about who arrived in NZ and when. Captain Cook was the first person to put NZ on the map but the Maori's actually arrived first. Europeans came to NZ to hunt seals and whales. The treaty come about to stop the fighting between the Pakeha and the Maori. However, the treaty caused concern because the English and Maori version were different. The chiefs were concerned and worried. The treaty did manage to stop some of the fighting but not all of it.
Now the Treaty is celebrate and recognised by Waitangi Day which is a national holiday in NZ.

Here is a picture from my text:

Kiwi can

WALT: build positive relationships and learn to be a fair and kind team player.

Kiwi can is a great thing to do in school. Last week we played this cone game it was so fun!!!! I loved it i think everyone loved it too. In the cone game you had to have two people in the game and you had to grab the cone before the other person grabbed it otherwise you where out. We achieved our learning intention by encouraging others and not boosting about winning.
