Calendar Art

WALT plan a narrative using an appropriate structure

Last week on Friday the whole class made an artwork for our calendars.

Here is the steps to make your own calendar art:

1. Make a rough sketch of what you want to draw on your page with a horizon line in the middel.

2. Use cool colours like blues, greens and purples to paint the water. Blend the colours to make it look watery and use white paint to add moonlight or sunlight on the ripples.

3. Use warm colours like red, orange and yellow to paint the sky. I painted a sun rise growing from the horizon.

3.  Now get a piece of black paper cut out the sillouette of the landscape. I included...

should Matariki be a holiday

W.A.L.T write about why Matariki should be a holiday

Today and yesterday the whole class went on a website called kiwi kids news, on the front page was should Matariki be a holiday? I think It should be because it's apart of New Zealand's history.  so theirs no reason for it to not be a holiday. It is very special to the pakeha and the Maori, I don't know why it's not already a holiday. matariki is believed to mark a Maori new year The beginning of an entirely new year for the native people of New Zealand! so why is the "holiday" pase by every year without much notice As a nation, we should be celebrating this day, just as we celebrate January 1st each year. I mean, who doesn’t love a good old New Year’s celebration? Who wouldn’t want to celebrate twice right?

Inquiry

WALT find information about the five food types our bodies need.

Food is what gives you Energy but certain types of food give you certain types of Energy. Be careful what you eat some food won't even give you Energy it will just get you fat like diary and sugar foods. witch do give you energy but a lot of that energy is not good for you. Our bodies need food like vegetables and water. That type of food will get you fit and healthy.

Kiwi can

WALT. co-operate as a team

Kiwi can started as usual. We started of with a game that is  called Beer salmon mosquito.  This is how the game works. First you talk to your group about what you are going to do beer, beer  beats salmon, salmon beats mosquito, mosquito beats beer. Don't ask me how? I don't know either. And the other team has to do the same thing. The next game that we played was a ball skate board game. The game goes like this. There is 4 groups of 5 .One person goes on a skate  board and try's to get the balls in the middle with a ice cream bucket but only one ball  at a time and the skate boarder can not touch the ground! And whoever who has the most balls win. We didn't do GKQ this time but its fine I don't know why.

WALT upload a google drawing of Aroha island

Last week, Wednesday 18th of Nov to the Friday 20th Nov, the year 5's, 6's and some 7's from Kereru and Tui whanau went on their end of year camp. This was at Aroha Island, near Kerikeri. We did lots of activities and exercise while we were there. We camped in tents, went hiking and kayaking. We went on this end of year camp, so we  could learnt to protect the animals and make us aware of our environment around us.

Here is my camp reflection:

Have you been to Aroha Island before?

Limerick poem

WALT upload limerick and write about it

Two days ago we did a limerick poem about anything that we wanted. The rules of the poem is that it has to make no sense at all the two top lines has to have 8 or 9 syllables and line 4 and 5 had to have 5 syllables and the last word had to rhyme.  Once we were done with the poem  we got to decorated it  with drawings.

What did I enjoy? drawing the hacker mask and the food

What can I improve on for next time? more detail

What did I learn? who do write a poem
